The EAR Yoshino Phono Box MM/MC is a valve phono preamplifier for both moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges. It provides the gain and record equalization needed to connect a turntable to a standard line-level input while allowing cartridge type to be accommodated within one component.

Black-panel and chrome-panel versions are offered as separate finish choices.

My Take

The PhonoBox MM/MC brings much of EAR's analogue character into a compact and approachable phono stage. Its ability to accommodate both moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges makes it a lasting choice rather than a temporary step, and it has the sort of natural, unforced presentation that encourages long listening sessions.
