The NAD C 558 is a belt-drive turntable using a separately isolated AC motor, regulated power supply and heavy glass platter to support stable 33 and 45 rpm playback. Its solid MDF plinth and precision main bearing are designed to limit unwanted mechanical energy.

A 9-inch tonearm with adjustable tracking force and anti-skating is fitted with an Ortofon OM10 moving-magnet cartridge. A felt mat and low-resonance dust cover complete a package intended for straightforward setup and manual record playback.
