QUAD 33 Preamplifier

Sale price$2,299.00 CAD

The QUAD 33 is an analogue stereo preamplifier that reworks the layout and controls of QUAD's classic 33 for contemporary systems. It accepts three RCA line sources, a balanced XLR source and a switchable moving-magnet/moving-coil phono input, with RCA and balanced preamplifier outputs for connection to a power amplifier.

A motorized volume control supports remote operation, while bass, balance and QUAD's Tilt control provide practical adjustment from the front panel. A dedicated current-feedback headphone amplifier is included for private listening, and two 12-volt trigger outputs allow coordinated operation with compatible power amplifiers such as the QUAD 303.

Mike’s Pick

Why I love it

I love how QUAD has stayed true to the look of the original 33 while introducing tasteful, useful updates. The MM/MC phono stage and signature Tilt control add welcome flexibility, and it’s a lovely piece of equipment to look at. Paired with the 303, there’s a fullness to the sound that I really enjoy, with controlled bass and lovely detail up top. I particularly like this pairing with Wharfedale speakers.
