The Rega Fono MC MK4 is a dedicated phono preamplifier for low-output moving-coil cartridges. Its discrete input stage uses low-noise FETs, followed by a MUSE operational amplifier in the RIAA equalization circuit with polypropylene capacitors in the signal path and equalization sections.

Rear-panel DIP switches provide selectable resistance and capacitance loading plus two gain settings. The factory configuration is matched to Rega moving-coil cartridges, while the available settings allow the Fono MC MK4 to accommodate a wider range of third-party low-output cartridges.
